My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Diesel is in the process of being adopted!*

Age: 5 years old
Weight: 27.6kg / 60.8lbs

A little bit about Diesel:
- has lived with children previously, doesn`t enjoy when they get too rowdy; all interactions should be carefully supervised by an adult
- Has lived with cats before, unknown history with small animals; all introductions should be done slowly over a period of time
- Has lived with dogs before; potential for another dog in home pending successful introduction

Meet Diesel, a beautiful and clever German Shepherd mix looking for a loving, stable home. She arrived at the shelter through no fault of her own and has experience living with cats, dogs, and children. While she’s generally great with kids, she can get a bit overwhelmed by rowdy or rough play, so a home with older, dog-savvy children would be best.

Diesel can be shy with new people, but with a little patience, she warms up and shows her sweet side. She’s a smart girl who already knows commands like sit, down, and shake a paw—and with the right treats, she’ll happily learn more!

She can struggle a bit with being left alone, so she’s looking for an adopter who can provide stability and a calm environment to help her feel secure. If you’re ready to give this affectionate, intelligent pup the forever home she deserves, come meet Diesel today!

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
