Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, my name is Duchess! Let’s just say the name fits me perfectly, everyone tell me I am regal. I love going on walks, prancing along and looking at you along the way. I love when you tell me I’m doing great and encouraging me along the way. I enjoy walks with other dogs, big or small. I used to live with a male dog, and would love a furry buddy in my new home as well. I know I could be your soul mate!
Duchess von Deuna is a radiant 12 month old German Shepherd. Her connection to people is so touching, she really wants you to be her best friend. She enjoys snuggling up to her people, giving some sweet kisses. She adores everyone she meets and loves getting all your attention. She really loves those ear rubs or you just being close. She does amazingly with other dogs and just likes to mingle with them, checking out all the good places to sniff. If you want to relax and read a book, Duchess will be right there with you. If you want to go out on a walk to enjoy the fresh air, Duchess will be prancing by your side. She is an absolute sweetheart with a soulful demeanor. We just know she will be the love of your life!
Rescued from the Inland Valley animal shelter.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
