Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Candyland, our 11 month old 18 pound mix, is sure to be the talk of the town. "What kind of dog is that?" "How did this dog happen?" "Is that a...doodle?". We have no idea, but we're happy to guess with you. What we DO know is no matter how Candyland got that enviable hair and those skinny legs, she's an A+ dog (full disclosure. All dogs are A+).
Found stray and pregnant, the shelter asked us to help. Candyland, being a teen mom, did not want to raise puppies. Fortunately, the shelter worked out an alternative plan for the puppies (they were raised by people instead) but Candyland needed a chance to find her own home away from the loud shelter she was in.
Candyland is a friendly sweetheart, although she needs a little time to warm up. She loves being pet and will glue herself to the person willing to give her scratches. She likes women immediately but new men can make her nervous at first. When Candyland is nervous, she turns into a rug and just flattens to the ground. She does this too with loud noises. However, she is continuing to work on being brave and has come a long way.
Candyland likes walking on a leash and doesn't pull. She is house trained and tries not to chew things she shouldn't (she sometimes fails). Candyland would be good with respectful kids and she would absolutely love a dog playmate. Still learning how to "dog", another dog in her home would be useful to show Candyland the ropes. She is a gentle player and a soft soul. We tested Candyland with cats and she passed with flying colors.
Candyland is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative and current on her flea and heartworm preventatives.
Trying to figure out how dogs ended up looking the way they do is a hobby of ours. And why we don't DNA test (because really, who cares?). If you adopt Candyland and you find out she's not a aussiechidoodletzu, please don't tell us. Apply to adopt at www.stumptownstrays.org
