My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Feyra, a 2-year-old Siamese who could use some love. She didn't come from the best conditions, so she is looking for a new home to start fresh. Feyra is still very shy, preferring to hide away than to interact with people. Yet, she has already come a long way since entering the shelter. With some more time and love, she will surely come out of her shell and start trusting you. She is also spayed and up to date on all core vaccinations and monthly preventatives. Come to the shelter today and give Feyra the chance to become the sweet, beautiful princess she was meant to be.

More about this shelter

We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
