Meet Apollo!
This miracle boy is looking for a family to spoil him for the rest of his days. Apollo is a handsome pitbull terrier mix born 12/01/2016, weighing around 50lbs. Why is he a miracle, you ask? In December of 2024, Dickson County was experiencing severe storms one after the other. During one of those storms, a road crew was working to clear debris from the roads, and watched with their own eyes as Apollo ran into the road and a car skid into him. Apollo was thrown into a ditch, where a damaged tree fell on him and landed across his back end. They moved quickly getting him help, and with their quick actions we were able to get Apollo rushed to a vet. He spent weeks hospitalized, but whether by miracle or sheer luck, his injuries were minor. Aside from scrapes and bruises, the only true damage Apollo suffered was an injury at the very base of his spinal chord at his tail. This caused some nerve damage, but with medications and our dedicated staff helping him relearn to walk, you have to pay close attention to his gait to realize he has a bit of a silly walk.
Since Apollo had an extended recovery period, we have all gotten to know him pretty well. With all the one-on-one time we've spent with Apollo, our staff easily fell in love with him. Apollo is a true gentleman, he is affectionate and silly, and gives the greatest kisses. Apollo spent much of his recovery on crate rest, and as a result he kennels like a pro, with minimal accidents, and hardly a noise when he's curled up in his safe spot. He also has become very experienced on a leash, although he still gets a little excited sometimes that he can run again, but who could blame him? Apollo has made lots of doggy friends in his time, and would be a fantastic furry brother to a home with one or two already. Of course, a meet and greet is always required if you already have any in the family. He loves kids, too, but is suited to a home without cats.
