My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hilda – The Great Escape Artist Turned Cuddle Queen!
Once upon a time in Southern Ohio, little 19lb, 2-year-old Hilda pulled off the ultimate escape—straight out of an Amish puppy mill and into the arms of a very surprised dog warden. We don’t know exactly how she pulled it off, but we do know one thing: this little pug is ready for her next great adventure—a loving forever home!
Hilda is still learning what it means to be a dog. The world is a big and sometimes scary place, but she’s getting braver every day. With plenty of love, patience, and lots of treats, she’s blossoming into a confident little lady.
Did we mention that Hildie is super smart? She figured out the doggie door on day one and now confidently navigates stairs like she’s been doing it forever. She’s potty trained, crate trained and even lets herself outside when nature calls.
While she doesn’t exactly play with her furry foster siblings, she will require a home with another dog to show her the ropes. She is still learning what it means to be in a loving home. Once Hilda trusts you, you’re in for the best snuggles of your life. She’s a cuddle pro, but on her terms, of course.
Hilda is a little work in progress, but with love, patience, and maybe a few extra snacks, she’ll be the perfect quirky, cuddly companion. Who’s ready to help this tiny escape artist write the next chapter of her story? Hilda needs a patient family with another dog to help her build confidence and learn to be a dog herself. If Hilda sounds like the perfect fit for your family, fill out an application ASAP!
All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes. Please do not visit the location as it is a privately run boarding, training, and grooming facility. Meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only for approved adopters.

Additional adoption info

Due to recent events, we use discretion when adopting to a home with children under the age of 5 and to an adult under 23. This does not mean you are automatically disqualified, but we may require additional information.

The adoption fee for all animals listed depends on the breed/species, age, vet care, cost to pull from the kill shelter, worming medicine, flea medicine, vaccinations, micro chip, etc. The adoption fee BARELY covers all of the previous mentioned expenses. Please do not ask for us to lower the fee.

All adopters must fill out an application. Please note: Once you submit an adoption application, it could possibly take up to 10 days to process. Thank you for your patience. Please email us for an adoption application at rescue@mbrohio.com or submit on our website http://www.mbrohio.com/adoption-application/

Go meet their pets

The dogs listed on this site are located at various foster homes throughout Ohio & some are located at a private boarding facility. Anyone wishing to visit one of our dogs or other animals must first complete an application and be an approved adopter before scheduling an appointment. Majority of scheduled appointments take place at a boarding facility in Grafton, Ohio

Please make a note that we do not transport our animals to you; you would need to come to Grafton Ohio to meet and possibly adopt.

More about this rescue

This site supports a small group of people who try to help as many animals that we can that have been displaced. All of the animals are checked by a vet, altered and updated on all vaccinations prior to going to a home.

We are all volunteers who do the best that we can with the limited funds and resources available to us. We give the potential adopter as much information as we can, including copies of all vet records but we normally do not know the history of the animals, as they are strays at the pound or taken by a humane officer from poor living conditions. Very rarely do we have owner releases. Most dogs in our program were minutes away from being put to sleep so the pound could make space for more strays.
