My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bello is a 5-month-old (born around October 2024) neutered Jindo mix boy with a gorgeous white coat, weighing in at 8.5kg and standing 40cm tall at the shoulder. This sweet pup was found all alone at just two months old near a café surrounded by rice paddies—no mama or littermates in sight and no collar to be found.

Bello is a total lovebug with people! He’s not just affectionate with those he knows—he’s happy to trot up to strangers, lean in for pets, and soak up all the attention he can get. Call his name, and he’ll come running from anywhere. He’s easy to handle, even allowing belly rubs and being lifted up comfortably with an arm under his tummy. He’s still just a baby, and his social skills are shining through.

When it comes to other dogs, Bello is just as friendly. He happily approaches dogs, both familiar and new, to say hello and invite them to play, although he’s still learning how playtime works and sometimes ends up rolling around with the bigger kids. Bello can be a little intimidated by dogs larger than him but is especially sweet and gentle with smaller pups. Even if another dog tries to stir things up, Bello avoids conflict and stays calm—a genuinely kind soul.

He’s curious about cats when out on walks but follows along without fuss if you guide him away. Bello has a moderate energy level: he loves outdoor adventures but settles down quietly afterward. At home, he enjoys playing with plush toys and showing them off to his humans.

With plenty of walking experience under his belt, Bello is great on leash and doesn’t pull—though he’s more interested in sniffing than speed-walking, so he tends to stop and go often. He’s not possessive over food with people or other dogs, hardly ever barks, and rides quietly in a crate. Being a puppy, he can get into mischief if left alone too long—he’ll find things to pull out and play with—but it’s all part of his playful charm.

Car rides can be a bit scary, so he prefers to be carried into the vehicle. Currently, Bello uses indoor pads and goes potty outside; with regular walks, he prefers doing his business outdoors. He’s still startled by everyday noises and is wary of sounds like vacuum cleaners or clippers, but he adores squeaky toys and enjoys sharing playtime with his people. He’s begun showing signs of mild separation anxiety, whining when doors close and people leave, so he’s working on that with ongoing training. Bello is the perfect blend of sweetness, curiosity, and puppy energy—and he’s ready to find a family who’ll help him grow into the amazing dog he’s meant to be!

More about this rescue

Adopt Korean Rescue is a volunteer-based federally registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted dogs in South Korea find a new home in Canada.

We love Korean dogs. Many of them live in chains, give birth on the side of the road, or wander around with their pups. Some of them get caught and end up at dog meat farms or high-kill shelters in South Korea. They luckily meet us just before euthanasia or after many years of living in dog meat farms. We exist to hold their paws and help them find a forever home in Canada full of joy and happiness.

Our dog rescue work depends on our flight volunteers. They help us safely bring our dogs from Korea to Vancouver or Toronto airports, where the dogs will find loving forever or foster homes.
