My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

IMMEDIATE FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED:
Jax is a happy, loving, and super smart, 6-year-old, 55 lb German Shepherd mix who is loved by his current family but needs to find a new home immediately as they are making a big life change by moving across the country and starting a family and fell that Jax won't endure the stress of such a big life shift as well as a new baby. They do not want to return him to the shelter environment as he has been living in their home since they adopted him 5 years ago but they are moving soon and need to find him a new home quickly.

Jax is a loving boy who is smart, trainable, fully housetrained and knows a lot of commands such as "sit" "down" and "place" to name a few! He loves to learn new skills and is eager to please and loves treats. He has been through extensive training and comes with free training for life through the Academy of Canine Behavior. They have been working most recently with him on nail trimming and ear cleaning.

He does well in the home and can stay alone in the house for 7-8 hours with no destructive tendencies. He loves his crate and is happy to sleep in it every night. He is ideal for an active adopter who loves training and outdoor activities. He is a high-energy snuggle buddy who loves long walks but is also happy to hang with you at home. He is super friendly! He loves people just sometimes gets a bit too excited and is prone to jumping on new visitors so he will need some work on this.

He can be dog friendly (But not all dogs) and can be leash reactive but is better in off leash settings. He loves other dogs but has a more dominant rough play style that may not fit with all dogs. He is not well suited for being in a home with kids or cats. While he has not been tested with kids, due to his size and excitability we believe he is best suited for an adult only household. He also can occasionally guard high value items such as a bone.

Jax will do best in a home where there is consistency and routine. We are looking for a standalone home outside of the city. He doesn't thrive when there are a lot of changes. We are looking for a permanent home, someone with dog experience who can give Jax the love, training, and outdoor time she needs.

Jax is fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.

More about this rescue

Forever Home Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We receive dogs from owner surrenders and overcrowded shelters. All of the dogs are housed in private, loving foster homes or a kennel in the greater Seattle area. We assess their behaviors and health and help them relax during their transition to a forever home. The dogs remain in foster care or in our kenneling facility until they are adopted. All of the dogs are/or will be spayed or neutered, microchipped and are current on routine vaccinations.

Forever home dog rescue is not a shelter and thus you cannot see the dogs without an appointment.

We need foster homes! Thinking about adopting a dog, but not sure yet about which breed or if you're ready for the long-term commitment? Consider becoming a foster parent. A foster dog placement can be anywhere from two weeks to several months. We provide any dog supplies you may need and cover all necessary medical costs for your foster dog. You provide the love and attention and bring the dogs to adoption events at least twice per month.

Interested? Send us an email at fhdrwa@gmail.com and we'll send you a foster application. It's lots of fun and you will meet lots of dogs and other people who love dogs.
