Midnight was originally taken in from a bad situation by one of our fosters. Midnight had either been horribly abused or was never socialized well. Her foster mom stated that she would mess herself if anyone even looked in her direction and would run and hide immediately to get away. Midnight stayed with her foster for several months as she worked with her to get her to become more approachable. She finally felt that she had reached a point where she could find a family of her own and asked us to take her and help to get her adopted. Midnight is still very timid but you can tell that she really wants attention and love. She's just not sure of who to trust and although her confidence has improved, she still needs to continue to build it further. We are able to get her to come in from outside (most of the time) and we are able to pick her up. She's only been with us for a couple of weeks so she's still trying to determine if we are "safe". Midnight will be a dog who needs more patience and understanding from her adopters. A dog who will take more time than usual to adjust and learn to trust but she is still quite young and has so much potential to be that dog who never wants to leave your side once she bonds with you. Midnight has never shown any signs of aggression or become nippy despite being fearful. She would rather "flight" than fight. Given some time, she will learn she is safe and will be a wonderful companion. She has a wonderful personality...super sweet and a gentle girl. Midnight gets along well with other dogs and a canine companion may also help her to come out of her shell more quickly than if she were to be an only child, although all of that one on one attention she could get by being your one and only would be beneficial for her as well. We feel that Midnight would be fine with older children who can be respectful of her space and should do fine with cats also since she doesn't seem to have any prey drive or a mean bone in her body. She appears to be crate trained and housebroken, although we never guarantee that. Midnight will be a wonderful companion for anyone who is willing to give her a chance!
Midnight saw the vet on 3/14/25 and was found to have no issues noted. She has been started on Simparica Trio for flea control and heartworm prevention and she had a negative heartworm test. She did also test negative for intestinal parasites on her fecal. Midnight weighed 8.9 pounds as of 3/14/25.
If interested in giving Midnight
her forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Midnight's adoption fee will be $250 to help cover the cost of her vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Midnight based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for her, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you

More about this rescue
We are a small rescue started in September 2004. To date, we have adopted out over 1,000 dogs and cats who may not have had a second chance. We rescue the majority of our pets from kill shelters and have them thoroughly vetted prior to going to their new homes. All of our pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm checked(dogs) and dewormed. We also microchip our dogs so that they can always find their way home. Big and small, we work to rehome them all. We are always in need of donations so if you can help us to help our pets, please contact us! The more people who get involved, the more pets that we can save! You can also see our pets and/or fill out our adoption application on www.petfinder.com. We look forward to hearing from you and making that "forever match"!
