My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kane is doing well with us, adjusting to all the changes that have happened in his short life. He came to us October 24th, from Queens Animal Care & Control, after being found abandoned and emaciated, weighing just 22 lbs. He and his housemate were in locked, stacked crates with no bottom tray—literally going to the bathroom over each other. It was a horrifying sight. It took him time to adjust to foster care, real meals, and water. He seemed to be a little obsessed with seeking water. He struggled to settle, most likely due to the traumatic life he had before coming to us. He was anxious but loving, loved attention, and enjoyed chewing on his toys. Over time, he was able to get used to a routine. Housebreaking was a challenge, but he learned some basics. It was a work in progress as he seems to be mentally on the go all the time.

Kane had a potential home, but he seemed to revert to his previous behavior—hyper and forgetting all he had learned.  Kane is a good boy, just over 2 years old and now around 50 lbs. He is currently in a foster home near Binghamton, NY, and we are retraining him on what he was already taught. Kane is fully vetted and neutered; he just needs more time to adjust and understand that he won't be abandoned again. He will have regular meals and always have access to water. The change in environment seems to be causing him to panic, but that doesn't mean he isn’t adoptable—absolutely not! He just needs time to adjust and boundaries to help him feel safe.
Kane is good with other dogs but can be a little pushy, so a low-key dog might be the best companion for him. He is good with cats, kids, and people—he is a friendly boy, perhaps too friendly. His only fault might be his anxiety, but we have to remember that each dog reacts differently to trauma.

All of our animals are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, micro-chipped, spayed or neutered, heart-worm tested, and treated if necessary.

Vet references and a home/family visit are required, and an adoption fee applies.
Transport options are available within our area of operation, including Pennsylvania, the tri-state area, and New England.

Please note we do not adopt animals into Canada.

Additional adoption info

We at Pibbles & More rescue animals from many situations. May it be from a shelter, bad home, or an unwanted furbaby... Once the animal is in our rescue they get the best treatment, care, love & training we can supply... So we work hard at finding the RIGHT family & home for our rescued babies. There is an adoption application that will need to be filled out, along with a home visit, vet check, personal references & an adoption donation... This fee varies from dog to dog. All our rescued animals are on flea/HW preventive Utd on shots and spayed or neutered... also all our animals are in foster care so this way we know the right home for each of our Furbabies.
