Meet Dakota Denim - a special senior poodle. Despite his age and medical concerns, Dakota is a brave and curious soul who is still very friendly and full of life.

Dakota is deaf and blind but he navigates his world remarkably well. He is a gentle and loving dog who adores spending time with people, meandering in the yard, and cuddling on the couch. Being deaf and blind, Dakota requires a very special home with few inconsistencies. He would do best in a quiet home where he can take his time exploring his environment and learning his way around. Dakota may be blind and deaf, but he is a very low-maintenance pet who is easy to care for. He is house-trained and he is up to date on all of his vaccinations. His blindness does make him fearful of other dogs and probably cats. He has sensitive skin that does best with a weekly antibacterial/antifungal bath. In addition, he takes is a thyroid hormone replacement pill. A 30 day supply costs less than five dollars. He enjoys his baths and takes his daily pill without any problem. Dakota has much love and companionship to give, so come and meet him!

After application approval a meet and greet can be scheduled. If the meet goes well, the dog can go home with their new family.

Additional adoption info

We aren't first come, first served, rather our dogs are matched with the best person or family for them. We do not do same day adoptions as there are multiple steps to our adoption process.

Miri’s Haven is an all-volunteer, foster-based 501c3 senior dog rescue dedicated to the rescue, care, and adoption of senior dogs into loving, forever homes throughout the DC Metro area and surrounding areas. We are run entirely by dedicated volunteers and do not receive any public funding. Funding is derived entirely from fundraising and donations offered by individuals and local organizations who believe in our mission.
