Meet Princess!

This girl has it all: gentle, sweet, compact size. Her mellow and affectionate nature is hard not to adore. She just wants to be in her person's arms or hanging out with her doggy friends. She will often roll right over to ask for belly rubs or slowly crawl over to you for some gentle pets. Princess would thrive in a quiet home with another doggy pal or two to keep her company when her people are away. She prefers a more mellow canine companion but she can get used to a more rambunctious one with time.

Princess was in a foster home with our resident 'pitty' Courage and her foster parents adored her! Here is what they had to say:

"Princess is a wonderful dog, as you can tell by her wonderful face. She is a very quiet girl who is attentive to her person and dog friends. She is very sweet, gentle, and well-behaved. She is also gentle and responsive when she is being walked on her leash, whether following her person or an inviting scent. This sweet girl loves her humans and shows it often with little licks on their hands. She loves cuddling on a soft sofa. She is not only crate trained but seeks out her crate as her safe place when she needs to. Princess tends to be timid in new situations. She gets disturbed by cats and wants them to keep away from her."

Thank you for considering adopting a Rescue Ranch dog. While they are with us, each and every rescue dog receives the best of care in a loving and nurturing environment. Their routines include daily playgroups or partnering with dog buddies, quality time walking or being groomed, and two meals a day with dog biscuits for dessert.

All of our dogs receive the best in veterinary care and are spay/neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and fully vaccinated.

The standard adoption donation fee for all dogs and puppies is $300

Additional adoption info

You will first need to stop by our rescue and meet our dogs! If interested in one of our dogs you will need to fill out an application. We also do a home visit if in the area, to make sure you have a secure and a dog-friendly environment. If out of the Siskiyou county area we can easily make other arrangements. Our adoption donation is $195.00. We have a reduced rate for seniors, the disabled, and veterans. Our "Senior for Senior" program offers a further discount and can help with the cost of dog ownership. The adoption fee for puppies who grew up at the Ranch (or in foster here) includes spay/neutering when old enough and is $295.00. All of our dogs are up to date on shots, heart worm tested and any medical issue are treated. Every dog that is going to a new home must be spayed or neutered before they leave Rescue Ranch.

More about this rescue

Rescue Ranch is a small no kill shelter. We have kennels for 22 dogs. We primarily take in dogs from city and county shelters in Siskiyou County before the dogs are out of time due to space limitations. We also make 3-4 trips a year to county shelters in central California to save smaller dogs that can overwhelm shelter resources in those counties. We started about 18 years ago with 40 acres far outside Yreka and were able to help many dogs in the county due to the efforts of the founders and many volunteers. In August of 2009 our new facility opened. We are now about 2 miles outside of town on 10 acres. We have been steadily growing through the efforts of the committed staff, volunteers, and volunteer board members. In 2012 we had 80 adoptions, 2013 we had 105 adoptions and in 2014 we had 167 adoptions. This year in 2020, we are projecting to place over 500 dogs into happy homes! We operate solely on the generous donations from the public and our wonderful volunteers. We have added boarding to our facility and all proceeds from the boarding fees are used to help with our expenses so we can help more dogs find their forever homes.
Our mission is to Rescue-Nurture-Rehome dogs into loving and safe forever homes---We do it for the dogs!
