MAVERICK NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Maverick Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and retriever mix

Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of March 2025 SEX: Male

Approximate Weight: 58 lbs

Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters.

Currently Living at: South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride up here.

Maverick is Looking For: His forever home! This bi ol sweetie landed in the shelter due to no fault of his own and he's eager to once again have his own family, to love and be loved. He's ready to trot by his human on long sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. Making new pup pals along the way sounds great too. Quality kibble, a cushy dog bed and dog toys round out his wish list but you know what he wants most of all? To know where he belongs, to be a loyal companion for all his days.

What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster.

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!
