Animal Profile: Adam Ant is an estimated 10-month-old 21lb neutered male whippet mix with striking markings and a very special personality. He is always happy to meet people with a very soft energy, no jumping or barking, just loose wagging. He had no prior experience indoors or on leash but is picking up both quickly. With other dogs he is timid but gentle, and then playful -- low/submissive personality. He is cat curious but not threatening. No resource guarding tendencies, and rides well in a car (crated). We will share more info as we get to know him in foster care.
Foster Update: Adam Ant is a GREAT dog! He would love a yard in which to do his zoomies -- he would REALLY like another dog in the home who LIKES to play, but he will also zoom around with a toy by himself if he must. Once he has played hard, he sleeps hard. He is a medium to high energy guy, but we don't yet know if that's because he is still young or because of his probable breed mix. Adam does well in his crate and sleeps through the night in it -- he may whine for a brief moment when crated during the day (necessary to prevent separation anxiety) but settles in quickly. He is still learning what to chew on and what not to chew on, just like most puppies new to the inside of the house world. He has not been tested with cats in our rescue yet. He is still working on potty training but is catching on very quickly. Leash walking is also a work in progress, but he is also getting the hang of that too. Dog experience preferred. We are looking for a home that has a house and a yard and another resident dog.
Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test, microchip with lifetime registration, and health certificate. Adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization.
