My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

At just a year old, Roo didn't have the best start in life. She is an absolute beauty now! She was found as a stray in the streets of Toledo, was emaciated, missing hair and in pretty rough shape. With a lot of love and care from her foster family, she is back to a majestic, healthy dog.

Roo would love another dog in the home. She would be a great family dog!! She just needs to know she's safe and loved. She will flourish in pretty much any home as she gets along with other dogs, children and really pays no mind to the cat in the home.

An endearing feature of hers, she got her name "Roo" as she doesn't really "bark". She makes a howling sound similar to the sound of her name.

She loves playing with toys, bones and the other dogs in her foster home. She is a master at playing "fetch"! She is very social and loves meeting new people. Roo is crate trained and potty trained. She would love a fence - standard is fine and doesn't climb them, just to keep her safe.

Roo has learned a myriad of commands while at her foster home. She knows, sit, down, come, off and no... quite an impressive list!

She pretty much is the entire package!

Additional adoption info

Dogworks strives to place dogs into permanent homes based on the dogs' personalities and yours. To adopt a dog, we require a completed application, approved vetting, signed adoption contract, and home visit.

Adoption applications are available on our website (www.dogworksohio.com) and at all Meet & Greets. Once your application has been submitted, we will contact your references and consider suitability. You will be contacted by phone or email, typically within 4 business days, to discuss arrangements for adoption contract and home visit.

Adoption fees are variable (typically $125-$250) and are listed with the description of each dog. Adoption fee will be refunded if you decide that the dog is not compatible with your family within 2 weeks.

Adopted dogs must be returned to Dogworks in the event that they can no longer remain a member of your household for any reason.

All dogs have been updated on vaccines and tested for heartworm prior to adoption. Adult dogs and puppies older than 14 weeks are spayed/neutered. Adopters of younger puppies are required to sign an agreement to complete spay/neuter by 6 months of age. We will assist with spay/neuter costs. Adopters will receive a copy of medical records.

More about this rescue

Dogworks is an all-volunteer, nonprofit group based in Toledo, OH, whose purpose is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abandoned, neglected, and unwanted dogs. Our focus has been on sporting dogs, both purebreds and mixed breeds. Most dogs are rescued from euthanizing shelters, although some come to us from relinquishing owners or other means. All dogs are fostered in volunteer homes until adoption. We do not have a shelter or kennel facility.
