Meet Patty – A True Survivor Looking for Her Forever Home
Patty is a 3-month-old Heeler/Cattle Dog mix with a story of incredible strength and resilience. She came to us at just 5 weeks old, along with her siblings, after being found outside during one of the coldest weeks in January. While her siblings grew stronger, it became clear that Patty was facing serious challenges.
She was diagnosed with persistent right aortic arch (PRAA), a condition that made it difficult for her to swallow solid food. Her foster mom lovingly pureed her kibble into a soup consistency so she could eat. On top of PRAA, Patty battled an upper respiratory infection and a breakout of demodex mange—her tiny body was fighting so hard for nutrients that her immune system struggled to keep up.
Patty’s foster mom worked tirelessly to help her gain enough strength to undergo the life-saving surgery she needed. When Patty finally reached 6 pounds, she had surgery to correct her PRAA. The procedure involved cutting through her side and ribs to release the artery wrapped around her esophagus. The first 24 hours were critical, but Patty pulled through like a champion. Just days after surgery, she was running and playing like nothing had happened.
Today, Patty is free from her respiratory infection, free from demodex, and thriving on softened kibble. While she may regurgitate her food occasionally, it’s nothing life-threatening. She’s healthy, happy, and full of playful energy.
Patty is the definition of resilience—a little survivor with a huge heart. Now, she’s ready to find her forever home where she’ll be loved and cherished. Could that home be with you?
