My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet John, a 1-year-old neutered male Terrier mix with a sleek black coat, tipping the scales at a sturdy 10 kilograms. Back in April 2024, when he was just a wee 2-month-old pup, John was found wandering near an apartment complex and brought into the shelter. Despite his early adventures, John’s heart is as warm as ever.

This affectionate fellow doesn’t discriminate when it comes to making friends. Whether you’re an old pal or someone he’s just met, John will sidle up, nuzzle in, and happily accept all the pets you have to offer. He’s equally fond of women and men, and while he hasn’t had the pleasure of meeting children under 13 yet, his easygoing nature suggests he’d fit right in with families, making him a great choice even for first-time pet owners. Scoop him up, and he’ll gladly show you his belly once you’ve earned his trust.

John’s sociable spirit extends to his canine companions as well. He eagerly approaches both familiar and new dogs, always ready to say hello and invite them to play. If one group isn’t up for some fun, he’ll cheerfully seek out another playmate. He’s friendly towards dogs his size or larger and wisely steers clear of those with higher energy levels. Even when another dog tries to stir up trouble, John prefers to walk away, keeping the peace.

On walks, cats might catch his eye, but it’s mere curiosity. With a gentle nudge from his human, he’ll continue on his way without fuss.

John strikes a perfect balance between activity and relaxation. He enjoys outdoor adventures but is just as content to rest quietly afterward. His leash manners are impeccable; he has plenty of walking experience and stays right by your side without pulling.

When it comes to mealtime, John is a true gentleman. He doesn’t guard his food around people or other dogs and is rarely vocal. In the car, he’s a model passenger, sitting calmly in his kennel, and he prefers to do his business outdoors. With his playful antics and endearing charm, John is sure to bring joy and warmth to any home lucky enough to have him.

More about this rescue

Adopt Korean Rescue is a volunteer-based federally registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted dogs in South Korea find a new home in Canada.

We love Korean dogs. Many of them live in chains, give birth on the side of the road, or wander around with their pups. Some of them get caught and end up at dog meat farms or high-kill shelters in South Korea. They luckily meet us just before euthanasia or after many years of living in dog meat farms. We exist to hold their paws and help them find a forever home in Canada full of joy and happiness.

Our dog rescue work depends on our flight volunteers. They help us safely bring our dogs from Korea to Vancouver or Toronto airports, where the dogs will find loving forever or foster homes.
