Meet Zahara! 😸

I’m an adorable, 5-month-old independent kitty with a playful spirit. I absolutely love toys, but my true obsession is other cats—I just can’t get enough of them! Dogs, on the other hand, aren’t really my thing. However, with slow and proper introductions, I might eventually warm up to them.
My brother and I were found in a dumpster when we were about two months old, so it takes me a little longer to trust new people. I need a patient and understanding family, as I was very hesitant about attention when I first arrived at my foster home. In fact, I didn’t really allow it for the first two months! But with time, love, and patience, I’ve started to come around.
I absolutely love cat trees—they’re my safe space. You’ll often find me perched up high, gazing out the window and watching the world go by. I’m also a big fan of Churu treats, and believe it or not, I now even tolerate nail trims (now that I kinda like my foster mom 😆).
I’d thrive in a forever home with another cat (or cats!) to be my companion. If there’s a dog, I’d do best with an older one or one that isn’t too interested in me. I’d also prefer a home without young children, as I can be quite skittish and need a calm environment where my boundaries are respected.

Our animals are kept in foster care until we find them the best forever home. All prespective adopters fill out our interest form and have a home check as well as a meet and greet with the animal they are considering adopting. A small adoption fee is asked for depending on the animal and it's age etc. An adoption contract is signed by both parties and if there is any issue with the animal after adoption the adopter agrees to return the animal to us.

Our dream at Vegas Pet Rescue Project is to positively impact the Las Vegas homeless, abused and abandoned pets that overwhelm our shelter system by giving them a new lease on LIFE. Our primary focus will be to assist the local animal shelters (Animal Foundation and Henderson Shelter) with the pets who have been given limited time to be adopted before they are removed from the shelter system due to a multitude of reasons. We will accomplish this goal through our extensive network of foster families, donations, and sponsors. We would also like to help finance spay and neuter programs to help low income families be responsible pet owners and decrease the overpopulation issues we face in Vegas. We also feel it important to collect pet supplies and food for local rescues and the city’s Good Samaritans who foster rescue pets and take in strays. Eventually we would love to help create a volunteer based program to investigate and bring down illegal breeding. We have been helping the pet rescue effort in the city for 3 years now and feel like we are just getting started.
