My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi everyone - I’m Samson! I’m a 16 month-old AKC Certified Cane Corso. I’m super lovable and have lots of energy. I love to be scratched …. Oh …did I mention I love to be pet and scratched? I love my people and have an abundance to give. I love to run and I’d be thrilled with a big back yard where I can really let loose and run, but I can work well with a somewhat smaller yard too! I’m a fan of car rides and walks. If my forever home likes running, I am pretty sure, I’d be an awesome running partner!

I’ve been professionally obedience trained and I’m a master at staying in place, walking in heal and following lots of commands. I’m potty trained and crate trained. Plus, my trainer said he’d be happy to work with my new forever homeowners (for free) to learn my commands and how to get the best out of me.

I’m a big fan of chewing! Give me lots of tough and sturdy chew toys and I’m a happy camper. I’m still in the puppy phase, so best to keep an eye on me so I don’t use my chew skills on something other than toys.

You might think with my handsome looks that I’m a social butterfly, but I’m best as a single guy. A household with adults will be best for me. I want to be a leader by nature so that's why it's important for me to have a strong leader who can set boundaries and help me be my very best. By nature, I have strong guardian instincts, so I need slow introductions with people and need to build trust and confidence. Walking up and greeting people is not my strong skill, slow introductions are more my pace. However, once I've built a trusted bond with my humans, look out because I am a love machine! I have tons and tons of love to give.

Samson is participating in The Love Pit's iRehome program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster. All behavior and medical information is provided by their caretaker, and TLP encourages all adopters to verify the information with their caretaker prior to adoption.

Additional adoption info

Adopting from The Love Pit means gaining a family member. It means gaining a network of pit bull advocates, ready to support you and provide you with all of the resources we can. Most importantly, adopting from The Love Pit saves lives. When you adopt, you're saving the life of your own dog, opening space in their foster home for another shelter dog in need, and creating space in the shelter kennel for a dog whose life would have otherwise been on the line. Your thanks for all the good you've done? Lots of love and pit bull kisses to enjoy for years to come.

Go meet their pets

We have monthly adoption events at different locations in Dallas and Fort Worth which are announced on our social media pages and will also be posted on our website.

We will also set up an appointment with you to meet the dog of your choosing.

More about this rescue

We are a foster/volunteer based 501c3 nonprofit dog rescue in Dallas, Texas. Our mission is to reduce the number of homeless pit bull type dogs in shelters and on the streets through rescue, rehabilitation, education, and advocacy.

Our goal is to educate the public about a breed that often falls victim to breed specific legislation, discrimination, and cruelty and promote responsible pet ownership through spay/neuter initiatives, vaccinations, and training resources.
