My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Courtesy Post - we are helping LIPs family  find his new forever home!

Lip was adopted for a 2nd time on 3rd March and sadly on 17th March the rescue was contacted to say it wasn't working out. LIP was adopted by a couple and he has bonded with the man, but is not wanting to include the woman. When the man leaves, he has separation anxiety and has made a mess in the house, this is even when the woman is upstairs in the office.

Previously Lip was adopted to a couple who had a senior dog, he was with them over the weekend, but the older dog was being aggressive towards Lip and not accepting of him so he had to be surrendered back to the rescue on 27 January.

From here he went to River Run Pet Retreat where he was being fostered before being adopted on 3rd March and loved everyone as he did here at the rescue.

LIP is GREAT with every dog he meets, he lets puppies climb all over him, he walks great on the leash, travels well in the car, but he clearly doesn't want to be one his own - he has been through so much being moved from home to home and this has no doubt contributed to his fear of abandonment.

Lip does chase deer and has high drive for them and so him being off-leash is not an option unless in a confined, secure location.

We are looking for a family either with another dog so he does have company or a single person who is active and social as Lip really is a social boy. The separation anxiety is going to make it hard for him to find his forever home.

Lip  is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. He has an estimated date of birth of July 2022 and at the beginning of August weighed around 75 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind.

Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue in  SEBEC, Maine  to meet and take home their new best friend.

Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application.

More about this rescue

Founded by Jenny an English woman who found her way to Texas on 14th February 2011 in San Antonio, Texas we saved dogs from the high kill shelters in Texas.

In July 2015, Jenny relocated herself and the rescue to the beautiful state of Maine, it's weather and people much like that of her home in Northern England.

We still save dogs from the high kill shelters in Texas where dogs have just 3 days to be saved. We vet them, they have veterinary examination and are issued with health certificates and then transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine.
