My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Simba, the silly goofy boy with a big personality.

Simba is a 4 year and 1 month old shepherd mix who weighs 45 lbs. Check out his video where he demonstrates his fetch skills. He would likely do well with frisbee since he can catch a ball pretty high in the air.

LIKES

  • Loves typical doggy activity like swimming and playing fetch and tug.
  • Loves toys
  • Does great on walks and in pet friendly stores.
  • Loves car rides
  • A smart boy that knows sit and stay
  • Does well with older kids (10 and up).
  • Loves attention and doesn't realize his own size, so likely a bit too energetic for babies and toddlers .
  • Does well with other dogs with proper slow introductions outside before entering his home.

DISLIKES

  • He is not a fan of cats
  • He doesn't like going to the vet

This active boy would thrive in a home that will take him on plenty of walks and has a fenced in yard where they can play fetch. If you have another dog, please bring him to meet Simba so they can make proper introductions. If you think Simba sounds like the boy for you, apply at www.caninecollective.org.

Our adoption process takes several steps and cannot be completed in one day. All of our volunteers work full time and assist the rescue in their spare time. Please allow 2-3 business days for a response.

* Applicants must be willing to make a ten plus year commitment to their new family member.

* Applicants must commit to daily exercise, walks, trips to the dog park or play in the back yard. A well exercised dog is a happy well behaved dog!

* Applicants living in a rental property must provide proof of pet policy from landlord.

* Applicants must provide a veterinarian reference and if there are existing dogs in the household. All pets must be spayed/neutered and current on all shots and heartworm medication.

*Please allow at least a 7-14 day adjustment period for your new dog. Rescue dogs go thru a lot of changes and need a few days to get used to their new surroundings and adjust. Adopting a dog should be a serious commitment, so please be willing to work out the kinks. Our dogs aren't perfect but with proper training and guidance they make awesome, loving pets.

*Our adoption fees vary based on the age and medical needs of the dogs.
