Name: David
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Sex: Neutered Male
Age: 5 years
Weight: 15.5 lbs
Good with dogs? David is getting used to the dog in his foster home and will even share space on his human’s bed with the dog, but will express his boundaries if the dog gets too close. He may do well with a calm dog who mostly ignores him.
Good with cats? Yes, he loves other cats and would enjoy a friend who is also FIV+.
Good with kids? Not Tested.
Energy level: Medium to Low. He does not really play with toys. He just loves to cuddle!
Medical/Behavioral needs: David is FIV+. FIV is a feline-only retrovirus that affects a cat’s immune system. He is currently asymptomatic and in good health. An adopter should be aware that FIV can make a cat more vulnerable to other medical issues because their immune system is not as strong as an FIV negative cat. FIV is not transferable to humans or dogs and can only be transferred to other cats through a deep cat bite.
David is chonky and needs an adopter who can help him manage his weight, which may include hiding and security both cat and human food since David has perfected his stealthy seek and eat skills. The good news is that since he loves food so much, it’s easy to give him any medicine he may need.
Animal Characteristics: David is a very sweet, big, snuggly boy who just loves to be with his human and cuddle up at night. He is talkative, purrs a lot and loves chin scratches. He has not met any new people in his foster home yet but will likely warm up to anyone who pets him! He was rescued from a scary life outside and is so happy to be indoors, well-fed, safe and warm. He will take a little time to get comfortable in his fur-ever home and then will be your best buddy!
