Meet Pearl a beautiful Shepherd 10 months old female whose owner is having untreatable health issues. She arrived here brought by strangers very sad and disoriented. Shepherds are very smart and she knows her life she had is over. When she arrived you could tell she knew nothing, just crossing a new threshold was agonizing for her. I have been able to teach her to sit immediately upon being asked, and come immediately with no hesitation when called. She also will set patiently and wait until she can eat. She has been here a little over a week. She is friendly with strangers and not aggressive. Dogs like this do lousy in a shelter and need someone around close for awhile while they acclimate. They also tend to be a flight risk for a few weeks until they realize they have a routine that works for them. Working with a dog like this is the most rewarding thing that a person can do in rescue. I have decided that a disabled or retired Veteran, or Police Officer would be a perfect companion for her as she just adores her leader and is so loyal. Veterans, and Police will get a discount on the adoption fee as well. I am not limited to military and or Police, but it has to be someone who fits. We would prefer someone that is home a lot, has a secure fenced in yard, or will use an airline pulley for a time, and Shepherd experience would be very helpful. This girl is so special. if helping a dog through a tough spot is your gig, and you are ready for tremendous satisfaction apply at www.lakehavenrescue.org Looking forward to speaking with you, and having you meet Peral. apply at www.lakehavenrescue.org
