My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pluto, a 4-year-old neutered male Jack Russell Terrier with a charming brown and white coat. This little guy was rescued from a shelter in Wanju after being found wandering near an apartment complex. Despite his rough start, Pluto’s love for people has never wavered. A dedicated volunteer couldn’t bear to see such an affectionate pup tethered to a short chain in the shelter, so they stepped in to help him find a better future.

Pluto is a social butterfly who adores people—whether they’re familiar faces or total strangers. He happily leans in for pets, rolls over for belly rubs, and melts at any sign of affection. He’s comfortable with both men and women and can even be picked up with ease. When meeting children under 13, he’s been friendly and playful, though he does have a habit of guarding his personal space, such as a kennel or crate. Because of this, a home with very young children may not be the best fit. Otherwise, he’s a fantastic companion with no major concerns in human interactions.

His love for socializing extends to other dogs as well. He eagerly approaches both familiar and unfamiliar pups, especially those of similar or larger size, and invites them to play. While he doesn’t start conflicts, he does have a bit of a jealous streak—if another dog tries to get attention from his favorite humans, he’ll let out a little “yip-yip” to shoo them away. He hasn’t been in any fights, but introductions with new dogs should be done with care, as he may react if provoked.

When it comes to cats, Pluto is curious but not fixated. He’ll glance at them during walks but will follow his human’s lead without much fuss.

Energy-wise, he strikes a great balance—he enjoys outdoor adventures but knows how to relax afterward. His leash manners are excellent, and he walks nicely without pulling. He does love to mark, so expect plenty of sniffing and leg-lifting on walks!

Pluto has no issues with food guarding, whether around humans or other dogs, but he does show some protectiveness over his personal space. If he’s inside his crate or kennel, he may growl to let others know it’s his spot, so that should be respected. He doesn’t suffer from separation anxiety, though he will bark when left alone in confinement. When placed in a kennel, he may bark briefly before settling down.

One of Pluto’s favorite things in the world? Car rides! He’s always eager to hop in, though his short legs mean he often needs a little boost. He enjoys watching the world go by from the backseat—but be warned, he’s clever enough to roll down the windows himself, so safety precautions are a must!

Pluto is fully outdoor potty trained, but in new environments, he tends to mark indoors. Using a diaper at first can help manage this, as he won’t mark while wearing one. If you’re looking for a friendly, adventurous, and affectionate pup who’s ready to ride shotgun on all your adventures, Pluto might just be your perfect match!

More about this rescue

Adopt Korean Rescue is a volunteer-based federally registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted dogs in South Korea find a new home in Canada.

We love Korean dogs. Many of them live in chains, give birth on the side of the road, or wander around with their pups. Some of them get caught and end up at dog meat farms or high-kill shelters in South Korea. They luckily meet us just before euthanasia or after many years of living in dog meat farms. We exist to hold their paws and help them find a forever home in Canada full of joy and happiness.
