Meet Primrose, our tiny warrior! She is a approximately 9 years old and 6 lbs.
When we received word from the shelter that a tiny Chihuahua had been brought in suffering from severe skin issues, mammary masses, and horrific teeth, we knew we needed to act quickly. Primrose and a cat were jammed into a carrier and surrendered to the shelter by someone who claimed to have found her on the street five months ago.
The owner told the shelter all kinds of beautiful things about how much Primrose loves to sleep in a human bed, is friendly with cats (a good thing when crammed in a carrier with one!), and enjoys a good nap. The owner also said Primerose is likely deaf.
We don’t know the truth of the situation, but we do know that Primrose is in pitiful shape. If ever there was a soul who has suffered quietly for years, it’s Primrose. This tiny senior has been carrying the weight of relentless discomfort, her fragile body a testament to long-term neglect. Her skin tells the story - raw, inflamed, and unbearably itchy, likely for years. Her little ears? Thick with painful, yeasty buildup. Her legs? Weak and wobbly, likely from muscle wasting and luxating patellas that have gone untreated for far too long.
Now that she is a Miri's girl, Primrose is safe and wearing the finest yellow sweater. She received a Cytopoint injection to soothe the constant itch, a compounded dose of ketoconazole to fight the relentless fungal overgrowth, and intensive ear treatments. Her regimen now includes alternating medicated baths and medicated mousse to bring relief to her raw skin.
Primrose is fighting, but she needs to know that on the other side of her fight is a forever family waiting to spoil her with all of the love, care, and kindness she so deeply deserves.
