My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lucy, a 6 year old, 65 lb Pit Bull Terrier!

Lucy was going to be abandoned by her original owner so her current foster took her in to keep her safe from roaming the streets on her own.

Lucy will need a home that will be able to give her a lot of attention. Other big dogs are exactly what she needs to have around! She would do great in both...a rural or city environment.

Lucy has some endearing qualities such as: Bird calling sometimes while she sleeps, she is very expressive, loves to "smile" and just has a "big personality"!

Some of her favorite activities include going for walks, having the ball thrown for her, cuddling, loves her neck to be scratched, playing with other dogs and "hunting for pests"! She loves concentration games/enrichment activities, tug of war and playing catch and magic tricks.

Overall, Lucy has a lot of energy, alert and attentive, loves to be a part of the family. She also can be a total couch potato.

She has conquered a myriad of commands such as "sit", "down", "stay", "come", "no" and "drop it".

She is very social when meeting new people and gets very excited! She lives with other dogs and cats and is great around them. She also is very good around children!

Lucy will require a standard fenced in yard to keep her safe while she's running and playing in the yard!

Lucy is crate and potty trained!

She is just the TOTAL PACKAGE!!

Additional adoption info

Dogworks strives to place dogs into permanent homes based on the dogs' personalities and yours. To adopt a dog, we require a completed application, approved vetting, signed adoption contract, and home visit.

Adoption applications are available on our website (www.dogworksohio.com) and at all Meet & Greets. Once your application has been submitted, we will contact your references and consider suitability. You will be contacted by phone or email, typically within 4 business days, to discuss arrangements for adoption contract and home visit.

Adoption fees are variable (typically $125-$250) and are listed with the description of each dog. Adoption fee will be refunded if you decide that the dog is not compatible with your family within 2 weeks.

Adopted dogs must be returned to Dogworks in the event that they can no longer remain a member of your household for any reason.

All dogs have been updated on vaccines and tested for heartworm prior to adoption. Adult dogs and puppies older than 14 weeks are spayed/neutered. Adopters of younger puppies are required to sign an agreement to complete spay/neuter by 6 months of age. We will assist with spay/neuter costs. Adopters will receive a copy of medical records.

More about this rescue

Dogworks is an all-volunteer, nonprofit group based in Toledo, OH, whose purpose is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abandoned, neglected, and unwanted dogs. Our focus has been on sporting dogs, both purebreds and mixed breeds. Most dogs are rescued from euthanizing shelters, although some come to us from relinquishing owners or other means. All dogs are fostered in volunteer homes until adoption. We do not have a shelter or kennel facility.
