My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Koda, an 8 month old, ADORABLE Basset Hound / Beagle mix who is as charming as he is adorable! Weighing in at 30 lbs, this short guy is the epitome of the Basset breed, with his short little legs, soft, long ears, and a face that could melt even the coldest of hearts!

Koda was rescued after being found abandoned on a rural property in Arkansas. Now, this happy, playful boy is ready to find his forever family in Colorado!

Koda is a friendly, social pup who adores people and loves making new dog friends. He has an outgoing and rambunctious personality—always up for an adventure or a fun game of fetch. Whether he’s playing with other dogs, exploring the outdoors, or cuddling up after a long day, Koda brings joy and energy wherever he goes! He’s also great with kids 7+ (with supervision) and would love an active home where he can be part of the action.

We are unsure if Koda has had any formal training. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young dog whose self-esteem will fly high while she masters her skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice.
Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area.
Our training requirement is to help every adoption be successful.

Koda has been fully vetted, is up to date on his vaccines, and neutered.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
