Barney is looking for a family to spend his golden years with.
Barney is built like a tank and sounds like a herd of elephants when he does happy zoomies. He acts more like a 5 year old. He enjoys playing with toys and loves to fetch them when they are tossed. He also enjoys a good chew toy.
Barney's favorite thing is to go for walks. He walks at a brisk pace and doesn't stop to smell much. He is more intent on getting his exercise in. Occassionally something will catch his attention, and watch out. He is so busy looking one way but walking the other he can easily walk straight in front of you.
Barney rides well on the back seat in the car. If he knows he is going to the park you may think you accidentally put a pig in the back. He will snort and squeal with excitement, while sitting completely still.
Barney will sit on your lap if you let him. When he is in a deep sleep he does snore, sometimes loudly.
Barney enjoys the company of other dogs, and will play for short bursts with them. He prefers to hang out near his owner. Barney can be protective of the home and will bark if someone knocks on the door. He would love a home with a window he can sit and watch the world go by. Barney would enjoy a nice fenced yard.
Barneys new owner needs to be committed to making sure he doesn't overeat. His last owner allowed him to put on a few too many pounds and he is busy working them off right now. Barney seems to have selective hearing. If you say treat or eat, he hears perfectly well. If you say Barney bed, or come, and he isn't ready, he appears to be deaf. He definitely has a stubborn streak.
Barney is house trained and sleeps through the night. He prefers not to get up before the sun is up.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) non- profit, charitable organization. Our mission is to rescue dogs from overcrowded and high kill shelters, and place them in loving homes. We also strive to educate the public on responsible pet ownership, and the importance of spay/neuter, so that one day there will no longer be adoptable dogs, euthanized by the thousands in our shelters. We are an all volunteer organization. 100% of donations go directly to the care of the dogs.
