My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Finnik, and his sister from another mother, Belle, were surrendered to our local shelter. As you can imagine, they were confused - their lives turned upside down and inside out - everything changed. There were no more quiet nights snuggling with their humans and playing in the back yard. Now life was barking dogs, cold concrete, very little outside time and no humans to snuggle. The shelter rescue coordinator asked us to save them - they were shutting down - not eating and depressed. An amazing foster family opened their hearts and home to these precious and resilient dogs. Finnik & Belle have been introduced to the family’s five cats which to our knowledge they've never been around and are doing great. Curious but respectful. They have a new foster sister, Yoshi, the Great Pyrenees, who's twice their size!! Finnik is super cute and fluffy, He’s a head turner and loves attention. Belle has a beautiful chocolate coat and is a snuggler. These two are bonded and we’d like very much for a family to adopt both. When they aren’t together, they are looking for each other. Their foster parents say they are sweet, submissive Velcro dogs. They sound perfect to us!! Both are fully vetted and ready for a happy ending.  Apply today to adopt these special dogs.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Adoption is a four part process.

Application: You will be required to submit general information along with personal and vet references.

Home visit: Potential adopters will receive a home visit by one of our members.

Meet -n- Greet: All family members (fur babies included) must meet the foster parent and pup they wish to adopt.

Here at Dirt Road Doggies Rescue, each adoption contribution is a flat rate per dog. We do not adjust this rate based on the "popularity" of a dog. We believe every dog is worthy of an owner that sees the value in them. Each adoption contribution is used to cover the expenses incurred for that dog and other dogs in our program.

Go meet their pets

Dirt Road Doggies Rescue, INC is located in the quaint town of Gillsville, in the foothills of the Georgia Mountains, just south of Gainesville. Our rescues are fostered in loving homes located in Hall, Jackson, and neighboring counties.

More about this rescue

We are a small canine rescue group located in Northeast Georgia that works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, fully vet, and re-home faithful dogs that have been tossed out of cars onto rural roads. We are a registered, 501c3 tax deductible Non Profit Rescue and we are licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture

All dogs in our program have been previously reported to animal control to ensure they were not lost pups who had a family diligently looking for them. We do not turn a dog away due to breed, health concerns, or age. It is our goal to keep these dogs out of animal shelters, thus saving their lives and providing more time to the dogs already in shelters to find their forever family.
