My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Kane – The Playful & Loyal Lab Mix! Kane is a 3½-year-old, 53-lb black Lab mix with a splash of white on his chest. He is neutered, micro-chipped, up to date on vaccinations, and on a monthly wellness plan to keep him in top shape. Originally, Kane joined our family at 2 years old when we took him in from a relative who could no longer care for him. While we initially planned to find him a new home, his sweet personality and playful spirit quickly made him part of our family. Kane is energetic and loves the outdoors—whether he’s chasing squirrels, barking at rabbits, or simply soaking up the sunshine. He’s a big fan of his Playology chew bone and will proudly retrieve it when you say, “Go get your bone!” He’s always ready for a game of tug-of-war and enjoys visits from our daughter’s 155-lb South African Mastiff Boerboel! Kane is great with other dogs and previously lived with our terrier mix until our daughter got married and took the terrier with her in early 2025. He enjoyed having a canine companion and continues to get along well with dogs, including his giant Boerboel friend. We’re unsure how he would do with cats since he has never lived with one. Kane is crate trained, leash trained, and housebroken. He knows the command “sit” and is well-behaved overall. At night, he used to sleep in his crate but now enjoys curling up in our bedroom—though he does snore! While Kane is a loving and playful pup, he has had two instances of biting, both due to being unintentionally provoked—once when trying to retrieve a toy and once when cornered while having a collar put on. Because of this, we believe Kane would do best in an adult-only home or with older children who understand boundaries. Kane is a loyal and affectionate companion who deserves a home where he can thrive. If you’re looking for a smart, playful, and friendly dog to add to your family, Kane could be the perfect match!
