My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi. My name is Duke. I am a little over a year old. My fosters had a DNA test done which showed 27% poodle but I’m pretty sure I’m boxer mix. I weigh around 40 pounds.

I LOVE people but I’m not thrilled with kids who love to play dress up wearing masks and costumes.

I really like the cat at my foster home and I love other dogs. I know "sit," "wait," "pee-pee," and "potty/poopy."

I am currently on a grain free diet and in peak health. I love apples and carrots. I am kennel trained, house trained, but not furniture trained. My fosters allow me to sit on the couch. I am great with people. I do bark when I see a car pull up, but when the guests come inside, I quickly calm down and am friendly to everyone.

I love sitting next to and spending time with my foster mom. I have my favorite toys and carry them around the house all day. As you can see, I am practically perfect. I probably should be with a family with no littles.

If you are interested in Duke, please visit www.pawscare.org, and click on the online application. We require the application to be filled out and approved prior to meeting him as all of our animals are in private foster homes. Please fill out all information as we cannot process incomplete applications. A phone number for your veterinarian is a must. We CANNOT process your application without a vet phone number.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

All of our animals are located in foster homes. Because of this, they learn potty-training, crate training and are comfortable in a home environment.

We are more of a "boutique rescue" as we do not have a shelter and only use private foster homes. For this reason, we do not have viewing hours. An application must be approved before meeting each animal, unless we have a scheduled mobile adoption.

More about this rescue

PAWS CARE is a volunteer group established in 2008 by individuals dedicated to being the voice for those who have none, to provide sanctuary for animals who have been abused, abandoned, or at lost and in need of shelter. It is our mission to try to find responsible, loving homes for all who come our way, to reunite the "lost" with their family and encourage residents of Montgomery County to embrace the humane treatment of homeless domesticated animals.

Our Basic Objectives:

Prevent cruelty to animals
Provide forever homes for animals through adoption
Promote compassion for pets through education
Provide shelter and care for homeless animals
Reduce overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter programs
Assist individuals with emergency pet shelter & food during troubled times
Relieve the suffering of all animals
