My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Six years ago, a lovable, goofy ham named Rooster stole hearts at ACCT Philly. Found as a stray in 2019, he was full of joy, charm, and a personality too big to forget. Now, he’s back—older, a little grayer, and carrying a few extra pounds—but still the same happy, loving boy he was back then.
It’s never easy seeing an old shelter friend return, but Rocky Rooster doesn’t seem to mind—he’s taking it all in stride, tail wagging, soaking up attention like he always has. Maybe he just got lost. Maybe his family is out there searching for him. We can only hope.
Rocky Rooster deserves a second chance at the love and security every dog dreams of. Let’s help him find the home he’s always wanted!

Meet Rocky Rooster at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

BEHAVIOR NOTES:
03/20/2025 staff notes: Rocky did well in his one on one dog meet with Cherry! He is very forward so would need to be with a very tolerant dog. He kept trying to hump and needed to be pulled off.

03/17/2025 volunteer notes: Approached the kennel and he was wiggly with ears back, panting with tongue hanging out and middle tail wagging big and loose. He was easy to leash and walked outside and all he wanted was pets, cuddles and treats. Introduced him to Bella Snowcone. At the fence he had soft eyes, neutral ears and a middle tail wagging a little more stiffly and very fast. As she moved he followed her with some slight fixation in his eyes and his other body language remained steady. We did some short leash greetings and he was happy to sniff her and walk away. We did a buddy walk and they were able to walk near each other with neutral body language and soft eyes seen on his part. She was nose down seeming to be searching for food (she's emaciated).

03/17/2025 volunteer notes:
Kennel Presentation: I approached Rockys kennel and he was laying down on his bed. I started to open the kennel door and he approached me calmly with neutral eyes and mid tail wags. I placed my leash in the kennel where he sniffed it and then allowed me to easily leash him.

Leash: minimal/moderate

Handling: Rocky is a super wiggly affectionate boy. He remained loose the whole time with minimal to moderate pulling. He allowed all handling with no issues, he came up and solicited pets and even gave some kisses. He seemed to be house broken as once outside he relieved himself. Walking back into the kennels he was so good and hopped right in his kennel with no issues.

Play: no interest

Toys: interested but took no possession
