Sarah is a beautiful 3-year-old, 60-pound, medium-energy Golden Retriever. She came to GRRoIowa as a breeder surrender. As with most breeder dogs Sarah was initially scared and anxious. She was very skittish, and fearful of new people, new situations, and noises of all sorts. After two days Sarah began to come out of her shell. She started to initiate contact with her foster mom and foster mom’s dog and became much more relaxed in the home. With the help of her foster sister as a role model, she is a sponge for learning new things. And with lots of love and patience she is conquering her fears slowly but surely.
Sarah has learned the command sit and we are working on come and off. She loves all dogs and does well with cats. She shows no sign of resource guarding. She loves toys, treats, and spending time with people she has learned to trust. Sarah is not fond of crating but will crate when necessary. She is a bit of a countersurfer and an end table thief. She does get car sick. (Medication has not been tried) She is 75% potty trained.
Sarah will require a fenced yard to keep her safe. A dog is required to continue to build her confidence. Sarah can live with all ages provided care is taken to keep things out of her reach. She is currently receiving vaccinations and is scheduled to be spayed soon. She is a happy, loving girl waiting to share that love with you. If you have the patience to continue training and love to give her she will become an exceptional member of your family.

We want to find the best possible home for our dogs. We have a thorough process. After the home visit and the volunteer submits their notes, we approve or deny.
If it is approved, the applicant's application will be forwarded to fosters to review. If they are selected, meet and greets take place to determine if it is a good fit. If so, both foster/applicant determine if they want to move forward.
