ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home. In some cases, we can help transport. Breed: DMHHealth issues (if any): Had few teeth extracted due to being rotten from streets. Background:I recently started feeding a new zone after the main care taker of them traveled for few months. When I first saw Angel my heart dropped. He is a literal angel! He has the most innocent little eyes. He is so pure I can’t explain it.So after feeding comes TNR. I started spaying them. When it came to Angel and his sister turn she was hit by a car. She passed away and he looked so lost without her. She was the strongest taking care of him and protecting him. I couldn't put him back knowing he won't have her. He gets along amazingly with other cats, he feels comfortable the most with a cat friend. Super gentle and friendly.PS: all cats are fully vetted. Meaning spayed/neutered, vaccinated, miroshioped and tested negative for FIV/FELV. All kittens are adoptable in pairs only unless another age appropriate cat is in residence. All cats are in the NY area. Cats are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped. All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport. Please note: kittens must be adopted in pairs or to households with age appropriate cat(s) to ensure proper socialization and companionship. NO exceptions! If you would prefer a solo cat, we would be happy to recommend those cats who would do best as solo cats.

All our cats are tested for feline leukemia and FIV, FVRCP and Rabies vaxed and also microchipped.

Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent. Please ask by writing us at cats@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too. Please come! And if you can't adopt, foster or volunteer, you can always donate!

If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet. It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. More about this rescue

Zani's Furry Friends is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to rescuing companion animals from New York City shelters where, unfortunately, they are at significant risk for euthanasia due to overcrowding. Beyond directly helping the animals we save, their rescue creates space at the shelter—thus giving another shelter cat or dog an opportunity to await a chance for adoption or rescue and thereby potentially saving yet another life. Our mission is to help you find the perfect furry companion for your family and to help every animal we rescue find the forever home they deserve.
Entirely funded by donations, we depend on our volunteers to continue our work. We do not have a shelter or boarding facility, but instead rely upon foster homes to shelter and nurture our furry friends until a loving forever home is found.
Although not always sure of the pedigree or background of each cat or dog, those we place are generally well-socialized family pets who came to the city shelter through no fault of their own. We rescue kittens and puppies, nursing moms and litters, adults, seniors and special needs cats and dogs who deserve another chance for a loving home.

Our foster home network allows us to become fully familiar with each of our available cats and available dogs and helps us ensure the best possible match with adoptive families
We are always happy to answer any questions you may have about adopting a new pet and will gladly provide any support you may need throughout the adoption process and after you bring your new furry companion home. An experienced team of volunteers, fosters and trainers are always open to providing assistance. Please submit either a cat adoption application or a dog adoption application if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets.
