Hi there! My name is Carl, but my friends call me Squishy Carl! I’m a 2-year-old large mixed breed with a goofy personality and a love for one thing above all else—water! While most pups are treat-motivated, I’m all about that quality H2O.
I spend my days playing with my fur friends, especially wrestling with my dog buddies. I also have a fascination with those tiny "dogs" called cats—but for some reason, they don’t seem to want to play with me. Weird, right?
One of my favorite humans is my 8-year-old foster sister. I follow her everywhere because she’s the coolest! I’m also the best kind of good boy—I’m potty trained, kennel trained, and a graduate of obedience school, so I know all my basic commands.
I’m looking for a forever family that can keep up with my playful, energetic lifestyle but also enjoys some snuggly couch time at the end of the day. Bonus points if you don’t mind me snoring in your lap!
All Heart of America dogs are altered, micro chipped and will have age-appropriate vaccines.

Adopt-A-Pet Events in the Kansas City Area

Cat adoptions are held at the PetSmart at 115th and Metcalf in Overland Park KS every Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00. Cats available for adoption every day at PetSmart in-store cage area.

Dog adoptions are held at the PetSmart in Olathe KS at 119th and Strang Line, every Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00.

Dog adoptions are held at the PetSmart in Lee's Summit MO at 920 NE Sam Walton Lane, also every Saturday from 12:00 and 3:00.

The Heart of America Humane Society is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization helping to place shelter and foster animals into permanent homes in and around the greater Kansas City metro area.

Our goal is to save and improve the lives of Kansas City's homeless companion animals by promoting responsible pet ownership. The Heart of America Humane Society (HAHS) partners with the Lee's Summit Animal Shelter (Lee's Summit MO) and KCK Animal Services (Kansas City KS) to increase pet adoptions into responsible, permanent homes.

Background
Our organization does not have a permanent facility or paid staff, so many of our adoptions take place at PetSmart stores and occasionally through other event venues. Some events raise awareness and bring in donations for our animal support efforts, while others help acknowledge and show appreciation for our own volunteers (who perform all duties outside of their regular jobs).
