Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Thelma von Lunden is a gorgeous, 9-10-month-old German Shepherd. As an older puppy, she’s the perfect age and a very manageable size! Thelma likes to sniff and explore on her walks (she has the cutest little prance) and would be a great hiking companion. Friendly with everyone, she's a sweet and affectionate girl who is happy to be on the receiving end of your snuggles and belly rubs. Her energy level is medium, she knows her "Sit" and she takes treats ever so gently. Thelma is a great “mingler” in the play yard and gets along well with the dogs there. However, she would do best in a home without a cat.
Surrendered to veterinary clinic.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
