Bella von Beanchen is the most adorable little 14-year-old Maltese/Silky mix.

Hi everyone!

My name is Bella, I’m 14 years old and sadly, my mom passed away. None of the family members wanted me. I know I'm past my prime, but I still have a lot of love to give. I’m housebroken and I still enjoy my little walks. I love to eat and I even cuddle with a gentle child in my foster home. I don’t see out of one eye and the other one isn’t too clear either. I’m okay with other dogs but prefer the calm ones like me. Everyone thinks I'm a cutie, if you don’t mind me saying so. Do you think you could love me? I will love you forever. Oh, and I forgot: I am told I'm a Maltese/Silky mix and I weigh 17 pounds. Thank you for reading my bio.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
