My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hank is an 5 year old brindle hound mix with lots of flashy white on his head, chest and feet. He was in a neglectful situation which became even worse after Hurricane Helene, so his wonderful neighbors took him in so he would be fed, warm and safe until we find him his forever home. They already have multiple dogs, and Hank gets along with all of them. He’s a very gentle dog, who still has a lot of energy and is fun to watch playing with toys. He loves to run and play outdoors, so a fenced in yard would be great for him, but isn’t a requirement.  He has adjusted quickly to inside living, is house trained, and crate trained. He is neutered, up to date on all vet care, and a very healthy hound. Hank craves human interaction. If you haven’t spent time around a dog who had a rough life, you will see in Hank how grateful and loving they are in their forever homes. Adoption fee $50. This covers the cost of spay/neuter, DHPP, Rabies, Flea, tick, heart worm check, worm treatment, and microchip. To adopt, you need to first fill out an application. Go to:

More about this rescue

Rutherford County Humane Society is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that has been serving Rutherford County since 1979, with the mission to significantly improve the lives of unwanted and neglected animals, and to measurably decrease this number through our spay and neuter programs, volunteer foster homes, and outreach and education. We are an independent organization that works in collaboration with other area animal advocacy groups. All of our efforts depend on our passionately compassionate volunteers, and financial support from the community. We have made the decision to use our resources to continue promoting the number one solution to our pet overpopulation problem - and that is spay/neuter. Our mailing address is still PO Box 998, Rutherfordton, NC 28139. Our website (http://rutherfordcountyhumanesociety.org) is always current, and you can contact us through the web. You will receive a prompt reply. We have adoptable pets posted on the site. If you need to find a home for a pet, you may contact us to have your pet posted on our website. We also post on Petfinder.com and Adopt-a-Pet.com.
