Buck is a shiny, handsome black lab mix with soulful copper brown eyes. He is approximately 2 years old, friendly, playful and energetic. Please don’t judge this book by his cover. While he looks like a tough guy, Buck doesn’t know that’s how he appears. Buck assumes he looks like a Pomeranian because that’s how he feels and acts. He gets along with other dogs, and is loving to all people. He is house trained, crate trained, rides well in a car, neutered, and up to date on all vet care. He was found as a stray, but is being cared for by a Foster Mom until his forever family comes along. Nice to have an intimidating looking dog who is a completely safe lover of all. Adoption Fee $50 This covers the cost of spay/neuter, DHPP, Rabies, Flea, tick, heart worm check, worm treatment, and microchip. To adopt, you need to first fill out an application. Go to:

We are located in Western North Carolina, but we serve areas as far north as New Hampshire with our weekly transport. The adoption fee covers the cost of spay/neuter, PVR or FVL-CP, Rabies, Flea, tick, ear mite and worm treatment before transport. All of our pets receive a health certification prior to transport. The transport is weekly. After your application is approved, we will contact you regarding cost and delivery.

We are located in Western North Carolina. All of our pets are housed with foster parents. You may visit our pets in North Carolina, but call ahead so that we can make them available to you.

Rutherford County Humane Society is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that has been serving Rutherford County since 1979, with the mission to significantly improve the lives of unwanted and neglected animals, and to measurably decrease this number through our spay and neuter programs, volunteer foster homes, and outreach and education. We are an independent organization that works in collaboration with other area animal advocacy groups. All of our efforts depend on our passionately compassionate volunteers, and financial support from the community.
