My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Beau von Bremen is a beautiful 11-12 month old long haired German Shepherd. Our magical guy is on the petite side, but a perfect size for a family dog. Super sweet and loving, he will happily snuggle in your lap while you hang out on the sofa. He is ever so patient with the children, loves to cuddle up with them, enjoys whirlwind of doggy play with the other dog in foster home and then settles down for a good snooze. Other than playtime, this pup can be quite chill, so he has a nice medium energy level. Beau enjoys chasing squirrels and he is a little too exbuberant for little dogs. So no cats or little dogs. He is housebroken and good in the house. The foster family calls him "Charlie" and according to his foster mom: "Charlie is super sweet, loving, and curious. He wants to be around people and is a cuddler. We have three kids and they hug and play wiht him and he is very gentle. He often comes and lays right next to us, or even on top of us. He enjoys play time with the other pup. After walks or playing, he is definitely a lot calmer. Most of the day he is pretty chill."

Found by Good Sam.

Beau von Bremen is in a foster home, offsite, and is NOT at our rescue location in Los Angeles.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
