My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lyra, a energetic puppy with a heart full of charm and just a touch of chaos! While we don't know this "mutt-tacular" girls lineage, we feel she best resembles that of a Italian Greyhound, Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Shepherd mixture.

Lyra needs an experienced owner who's ready to help her build confidence, master the art of socializing, and teach her the delicate art of playing without using her mouth. She's full of enthusiasm and energy, but she would benefit from learning how to express herself in a more gentle way. Due to this, we do not feel she would be suitable for a home with young children.

If you're ready to help this silly, lovable pup grow into her potential (and maybe teach her some manners along the way), Lyra is ready to bring some fun and love into your life!

Please note that all dog meets are by appointment only - as we are unable to accommodate meet and greets on a walk-in basis. To secure an appointment submit an online application today!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
