Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lacey von Leisnig is a gorgeous 2 year old German Shepherd. Beautiful Lacey is one sweet love bug with an easygoing personality who likes to hang out by your side while you pet her all over. Of medium energy, she loves to please, knows her "Sit" command and is treat-motivated, taking treats gently. She walks nicely next to you in a heel position, enjoys meeting people and dogs passing by, and does great as part of a doggie group-walk. She also is wonderful in playgroups, and just loves loves loves playing with other playful pups, so she'd love to have another playful pup in her forever home. (She's not for small dogs or cats, however.) You might just be one application away from making this gem yours!
Rescued from the Kern County animal shelter.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
