My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sam is an adorable scruffy terrier that is affectionately known as a Snorkie (a Schnauzer /Yorki mix). Sam is about a year old and very smart as he knows sit and down and is already potty trained. This sweet boy was rescued from a high-kill shelter because we knew he needed more time to find the right home. When Sam arrived at Abandoned Pet Rescue, he wouldn't like anyone touch his back, but now he enjoys getting attention. Someone may have not been nice to him in the past, but he's quickly learning to trust again and he loves being told that he's a good boy. A home that will continue to build Sam's confidence and trust would be best. Sam has been friendly with other dogs at the shelter and we would do a meet and greet with your dog. Submit Application

Visit www.abandonedpetrescue.org to see adoptable cats and dogs. Fill out an application for the pet(s) you would like to meet and adopt.

2.
Meet the Pet

Once you have filled out an application, a team member will contact you to schedule an appointment to visit APR.

3.
Approve Application

APR does not do same day adoptions and takes multiple applications on each pet to best match pets and families. APR may do home checks.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

If approved, you will sign a contract and pay the adoption fee. All pets are up to date on vaccines, spayed/neutered and microchipped.

5.
Take the Pet Home

APR hopes you stay in touch by joining APR's Facebook Alumni Page. Adopters can reach out to APR at any time with questions or concerns.

Additional adoption info

You must be 21 years old to adopt and have never been convicted on animal cruelty or neglect.

Fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccines and tests for common illnesses

Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR) is one of the largest no-kill animal shelters in South Florida with the mission of rescuing and sheltering abandoned and abused cats and dogs with the goal of finding them new homes. APR's adoption center has about 150 cats and 30 dogs, all of which receive nutritious meals, veterinary care, enrichment and love.

APR, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteers who were trapping, spaying and neutering feral cats and quickly realized the greater need to help abandoned pets and advocate for a no-kill community. APR is funded solely by generous donors and grants.
