Here's what the humans have to say about me:
GG, our 13 pound 12 year old Lhasa, came to us in rough shape. Many Stumpies come to us in rough shape; that's kind of what we do. But GG had been neglected for years. We have gotten her to a place where GG is comfortable, which was quite a feat. Now we have one more task; find GG a home where she will never be neglected again.
Found dumped in Portland, GG was bald, covered in sores, and had horrific eye, ear and skin infections. When we took her in, we diagnosed GG with KCS - a condition where the eyes don't produce enough tears. We were able, using an eye ointment that GG will need long term, to get improvement in her right eye. Sadly, her left eye could not be saved and had to be removed. GG still has some vision, although admittedly should not be driving at night.
GG has allergies. She's on a limited ingredient diet, which helps a bit, but most of GG's allergies are environmental. Allergies are not curable, but they are manageable. GG's fur has grown back and she's finally not chewing herself raw anymore. GG will likely need to be on allergy medications long term.
GG is friendly and likes meeting new people. She loves to sit on a lap but isn't clingy. GG is still playful and entertains herself with squeaky toys. GG ignores cats completely. GG is good with other dogs and likes to spoon with her canine housemate. GG is good on a leash, is quiet, and polite.
Like a lot of senior dogs, GG would like to use the restroom every few hours. If her people are gone longer than that, GG will sometimes pee on the floor. Although she loves being petted and is good with baths, she doesn't love manicures (she's missing out) or overhanding, so we don't recommend small children in her home.
GG is heartworm negative and is current on her preventatives.
Taking on a half-blind senior dog with allergies, we recognize, is no easy task. For that reason we are not asking for an adoption fee for GG and Stumptown Strays will continue to provide her allergy medications and eye ointment for as long as she needs them.
