My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ellie was rescued from the shelter after she arrived as a stray with a terrible leg wound. Her leg was amputated and she was adopted back in early 2020. Unfortunately, her adopter passed away and she is now looking for a new home. Ellie is about 8 years old, microchipped, and combo tested negative for FIV/FELV. She will need her shots updated.

Ellie will need extra time to adjust in a new home.

PERSONALITY:
Ellie is a very sweet and reserved kitty. She likes to be close to her person so she can get lots of pets. She is very laid back and easy going.

LIKES/DISLIKES/OTHER ANIMALS/CHILDREN:
Ellie likes to play with toys like fishing poles with worms and feathers. She also likes to snuggle with her person by sitting very close to them. She likes to be pet. She also enjoys to sit on the outside screened in patio to watch the birds.

Ellie gets along well with other cats. She liked to snuggle with the resident kitty Rose. She also will sit for hours on the porch with her current friend Gracie. She has not been around dogs but would probably adjust to a cat friendly dog (or one that doesn’t bother with cats). She hasn’t been around children, but would be ok with older, calmer kids.

Ellie will be startled in homes that are loud or have a lot of action. She will need a more laid back environment to adjust.

***Please remember; our cats have a low thirst drive and NEED the moisture in the wet food. Since wet food is 75% moisture and dry food only 10%, that is huge for our felines. Cats need wet food daily to avoid a lot of dehydration related medical problems long term like urinary tract issues which can lead to litter box avoidance and kidney disease or obesity issues linked to diabetes..

VETTING: Ellie is spayed, microchipped, and combo tested FIV/FELV negative. She will have flea treatment on as well.

More about this rescue

Furry Nation Salvation, Inc. is a foster based all-volunteer non-profit animal rescue organization located in Florida. We commit our resources throughout Volusia County and surrounding areas in finding permanent homes for abandoned, unwanted, and neglected animals. Run by dedicated volunteers, our work is a heartfelt collaboration in making a difference for the innocent animals without a voice. Our foster volunteers “one on one” care help us to determine the animals true personality to best fit them into their forever home. We also promote, practice, and work, in the area of TNR (trap, neuter, return). This method of population reduction and control for feral cats has proven to be successful and we are committed to this method. FNS strives to educate the public on the importance of spay and neutering their pets and provide locations where they are able to do so at a discounted price. We assist in transporting animals to and from veterinary clinics, and help individuals place their unwanted pet who would otherwise be dumped at an animal shelter with an uncertain future. We do so by utilizing social media and animal adoption sites and always making ourselves available with support and advice. We love what we do and together we make a difference for so many. Furry Nation Salvation does not have a facility and rely on foster homes for our rescued animals. Our current goal is to establish a dedicated rescue facility to be able to help even more animals in need.
