My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello
My name is Pogo and I am roughly 8 months old. My story starts being found in a rural area hiding in a ditch with my 3 brothers. I was taken in by the rescue and my life has been good!
I am the shyest of the brothers . My brothers are rough, and tumble and I am more of an old soul for a puppy. Don’t get me wrong , I love to play but there is a time for that. I love nesting on the karanda bed and napping. My brothers are always loud and making a mess. I am the mature one! Lol
I love snacking on carrots. Give me a stuffed toy or a stick to carry around and I am happy. I play well with all my foster friends . During the day while everyone is at work ,we stay in an outdoor kennel since we still act like puppies . Once our foster mom is home, we have a big yard to play in and we go in and out using the doggie door. I am walking pretty well on a leash.
No idea who my parents are but my foster mom says I have a border collie type head and a fluffy curly tail. My marking look dark , but in the light you can see a brindle color to them. I am kind of unique!
All my vet work is done, including vaccinations, micro chipped and neutered.

Additional adoption info

Safe Haven Animal Rescue Program (SHARP) is based in rural Polk County Tennessee. We have no shelter or animal control in our county. Currently we are the only 501C3 non-profit in the county. We advertise our animals out of state ,which gives them better odds of a happy long life.
Our dogs and cats are fostered in TN with loving families. You will have the opportunity to speak with the foster of the animal you are interested in. All our Cats and Dogs are completely vetted ,which includes spay/neuter, vaccinations , microchipped (dogs only)and heartworm testing (dogs) . All of them come with complete medical records ,which travel with them. Their adoption fee covers a health certificate from the vet and transport fee.
Our rescue doesn't have an actual shelter building in the Michigan area. Due to this it is not possible to meet them prior to their adoption. Our dogs and cats are transported up to their new owner’s biweekly! We have a 14 day no questions asked money back guarantee and the dog/cats can be returned to us if things don't work out. We try hard to get good matches in our homes so that everyone has a happy life together! To date we have placed over a thousand dogs and cats in loving homes!

More about this rescue

2008 a small group of animal lovers met and started a group to be named Safe Haven Animal Rescue Program (SHARP). These animal lovers personally saw the effects of a rural county with no animal shelters. Polk County is in the far South-eastern corner of Tennessee. It is a very rural county with most of its 442 sq. miles belonging to the Cherokee National Forest. Unfortunately, the beauty of the mountains and forest has drawn people to drop family pets off to survive on their own.
SHARP’s dedicated members knew becoming a 501(c)3 would help with fund raising and achieve long term goals. With our new status achieved, SHARP put together a new mission statement and strategic plan to guide the group forward.
Our group consists of hard-working everyday volunteers with the passion to give time and love to every dog or cat taken in. Currently we use a foster based program to house our dogs and cats. Each dog or cat taken in is given all vaccinations, heartworm checked (dogs)and spayed/neutered before being offered for adoption. SHARP dogs and cats are kept with their foster parent and treated like a member of their own family. The foster-based system allows us to give detail to potential families about each dog’s and cat's characteristics and needs. Of course, the tears flow when it is time to hand a dog or cat over to a new family, but the tears are always followed up with a smile knowing one more dog or cat has a forever home.
