DUMBLEDORE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Dumbledore Best Guess for Breed: Terrier mix of some type, some Cairn in there perhaps
Best Guess for Age: 5 years as of December 2024 Gender: Male
Approximate Weight: 44 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats. We are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!
Currently Living At: DC area foster home
Special Adoption Considerations: Dumbledore is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Dumbledore is Looking For: Meet Dumbledore, a charming 5-year-old terrier mix weighing 44 lbs, who’s looking for a loving home where he can feel safe and secure. Dumbledore might take a little time to warm up, but once he trusts you, he’ll reward you with the sweetest smile and an abundance of love.
This charming fellow is a gentle soul who enjoys being petted, and he’s got a special talent for taking leisurely walks. He’s a “wizard” when it comes to walking calmly on a leash, taking his time to sniff and explore, as if he’s searching for the hidden chambers of adventure. When at home, Dumbledore is as quiet as a spell cast in a library—no barking, just the softest presence, content to enjoy some quiet time by your side. His energy is calm, and he’s always ready for a relaxing day or a short stroll through the “muggle” world.
Dumbledore gets along with other dogs, and he’s house trained, so he’s ready to settle in and make your home his own little Hogwarts. He’s looking for a quiet, loving environment where he can receive the attention he deserves from his “Headmaster” (that’s you!) and become your most loyal companion.
If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate dog who will reward you with love and loyalty, Dumbledore might just be the “chosen one” to bring into your life. Don’t let this magical boy disappear into the shadows—bring him home, and watch the magic unfold!
What the Shelter Staff Says About Me: Dumbledore is a little shy but he warms up to people. Dumbledore is happy and bouncy with a shelter staff member with whom he spends time!
What My Foster Says About Me: Dumbledore is a sweet and gentle angel. He is a shy guy who is looking for a nurturing owner to help him warm up and feel safe. Once he trusts, he rewards you with the cutest smile and lots of love. Dumbledore loves to be pet and loves to walk. He is a gentle walker on the leash and enjoys taking his time to sniff. He is quiet in the home and no barking. His energy level is generally calm. He does well with other dogs. He has not had any potty accidents in the house. Dumbledore would do well in a quiet home environment with lots of attention from his owner.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
