My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Siskiyou will steal your heart! Not only is she beautiful, she is smart, playful, athletic, and sweet. She is spayed, 72 lbs, vaccinated (records available upon request) and micro-chipped. She also recent graduate of an intensive 1 month board and train program in Bend, OR (continued free access to her professional trainer to new owner for life; I paid a lot of money for this service). She is e-collar trained, heel trained off-leash and on-leash (great walker with kids and elderly folks), house trained, crate trained, and place trained. She has great recall, knows all basic commands, and is a very quick learner. She is eager to work/track and please (especially with treats). She loves water, running, hiking, boating, paddle boarding, and snow. This girl has stamina but happy to sleep the day away, if you let her. Great in the car on long trips!

Siskiyou LOVES humans of all ages. Great with kids and elderly. She is friendly with other docile/elderly dogs but is known to resource guard. For that reason, a home with NO DOGS or CATS is best for her. It is recommended to crate her if leaving her alone in the house (she has been trained to do so).

She would be a great partner to a couple or single person (retired or works from home) who is active or has acreage to watch over. She hasn’t been around guns but is afraid or fireworks (thunder is ok).

I am recently divorced and work for the Forest Service with my current job threatened. I simply don’t have the flexibility, financial capability and time she demands.

Located in Marquette. Asking $200.00 but she comes with Ruffland Performance Kennel XL, leashes and gentle lead, bowls, ecollars, etc.

More about this shelter

We are a local non-profit organization run and staffed by your neighbors. We make decisions on caring for homeless, unwanted, abandoned and abused domestic animals based on what we believe is best for them. We have no affiliation with any larger group and we receive no funding from any larger group that might influence our decisions or actions.

We advocate only for the animals in our care to help them find their forever home with you.

UPAWS does not receive operating funds from any governmental agency. We rely on donations from our neighbors and friends to make our efforts possible. We save consistently 98% of the animals who come to us – which is an award-winning success story. We want to educate everyone on proper animal care so there soon won’t be the three percent who come to us too sick or wounded to be saved. It’s your support that makes this dream possible.
