Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lizzy von Lingen is a beautiful, 11–12-month-old, long-haired German Shepherd. Lizzy is super special and not to be missed. Beautiful (obviously) but such a sweetheart with an easygoing way about her. She’s got the ‘puppy eyes’ down to a science – no one can resist the adorable way she loves attention and pets all over. She’s eager to please and would most likely love a home where she can learn how to be the best she can be. She walks well on a leash and enjoys our Westside playgroups just as much, sometimes mingling and sometimes playing. If you are partial to the "fluffier" of the shepherd breed, Lizzy should be on your list. (No cats.) Come visit Lizzy!
Rescued from the Avenal animal shelter.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
