Mackay came to us when he was a few days old, with his sister and mom, after they were found abandoned in a house after an eviction. Mackay is 16 weeks old and around 4 lbs. we expect him to top out around 10 lbs. He has grown up in his foster home and is ready to move into the next chapter of dog life!
All puppies are cute, but Mackay is a special kind of cute. He is confident, mischievous, rambunctious, and energetic. When he’s not sprinting around starting trouble, he can be found seeking out toys (he really likes balls) that his sister wants, just so he can be chased. Mackay also enjoys tug, wrestling, and chewing. He is a puppy through and through, but he is also excitable and affectionate. He will greet you with nibbles on the ear and kisses on your face, just to show his sheer happiness.
His foster parents laugh a lot when he is sprinting past you and breathing hard, and when you tell him “no” and he dramatically stares at you to see if you mean it. He is dramatic and will protest, so, don’t be fooled by his antics.
While Mackay can be a handful, he is also quite smart. He is progressing very well with potty training, and is learning a few basic commands. It’s fairly easy, because he is quite food motivated. Crate training is going well too, as he will sleep all night quietly in his crate, as well as during the day if you leave for a few hours. He knows that his crate is quiet time, and he gets fed there too.
Mackay would do great in a variety of households, especially because he is adaptable. He has been learning a lot from his mom and the other dogs and cats in his foster home. He would love to be around other playful dogs or kids, but as with all puppies, watch out for his sharp teeth! Adopting a puppy is a big commitment and he will need continued training and guidance to become a great member of the household.
Mackay is neutered, crate trained, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.
